Falstaff Magazine 07/2024 - INDIA
Exactly 3214 kilometers lie between the southernmost coastal point of the Indian subcontinent and the northern state border near the Himalayas. The country also stretches almost 3000 kilometers from west to east. An almost unbelievable size from a European perspective: each of these distances is around three times the distance between Austria and London - an impressive comparison!
It is clear that the country, which has recently become the most populous in the world, can also be understood in culinary terms primarily through its diversity: The millennia-old cultural area, home to Ayurveda among other things, is characterized by religions, spirituality and tradition. And by its unbelievably rich landscape, which was once its undoing: It aroused the covetousness of the European colonial rulers. Their (heavy) legacy can still be felt to this day, shimmering out again and again.
In the wine section, we also look at Pinot Noir and have investigated where this finesse-rich wine can show its full strength outside Burgundy.
And in the travel section, we head to London for a long weekend, where - and this brings us full circle - we follow in the footsteps of India and visit some of the best Indian restaurants in the world.

Have fun and enjoy the new Falstaff,
Wolfgang Rosam
